I think the picture must have been taken from the top of the old NAAFI Club/Chevalier Casino.
No date for the pic, but it must be Christmas 1963, as that huge gap site on the left was once home to the famous Glasgow Empire Theatre.
Gone too is that lovely wee church on the right. St. John’s Methodist Church had lost the top of its tower in 1957-58 when the building of the adjacent multi-storey St. Andrew’s House office block made the top portion a wee bit shoogly. Despite that, the church itself remained in use until 1974.
Today, of course, all the buildings on the near right, including the original Ferrari's restaurant, are gone, replaced by the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
